How can I get a decently cheap new Phone?

I have verizon and my phone is almost to the point where I can’t use it anymore. I need a new phone that isn’t a piece of crap, but all the prices are so high if I don’t sign up for a 2-year plan. I don’t want a new plan, just a replacement phone for cheap. Any suggestions?
